RODEOS IN ALBERTA!

I like horses, I do not know exactly why but I like horses, they are majestic and strong, but as much as I like them, I am a bit nerves and afraid when I get close to them, may be because when I was young I was backed by one when I try to ride him. Since then I have been a bit reluctant to get too close but I do admire them.

Though I am not a farmer or a cowboy I am a horse lover, I usually go to the Northland Park to see them racing. Lately I had the opportunity to go to the Canadian Final Rodeo at Northland Coliseum. I throughout enjoy the experience, and then I decided to learn more about rodeos, and to do so I did some research on rodeos in Alberta.

I did not realize that rodeos around Alberta are so popular and to get more informed I contacted a few of the event organizers.

Some of the rodeos attract the world’s top cowboys and cowgirls. Catch your breath watching cowboys struggle to stay on the back of an angry bull, and talented rider's race around intricate courses marked by barrels. Feel the ground tremble as drivers and horses compete in the chuck wagon races.

One of the Greatest Outdoor Show without a doubt is the Calgary Stampede, an annual, 10-day rodeo, exhibition and festival held every July in Calgary, Alberta. Calgary features one of the world's largest rodeos, a parade, midway, stage shows, concerts, agricultural competitions, chuck wagon racing and First Nations exhibitions.

Bull riding takes only eight seconds, seems like nothing as long as you are not on the back of a bull and hanging on for dear life. It is exciting to watch, but very dangerous for the cowboy riding it.

I found out that if you want to get involved in rodeo, there are rodeo schools taught by professional cowboys various levels of success in the sport already. mind you is only if you want to get competitive in this sport. some of these schools in Alberta are in : Barrhead, Olds, Vermillion and Brooks.

Though Calgary Stampede is very important is not the only one, there are very exiting rodeos all around Alberta where you can enjoy a pleasant day around horses and cow(boys/girls)
